In todays technology driven world, a website has gone far beyond being a digital version of a brochure put up on the Internet. People expect an experience that is intuitive to use. Whether you website involves a CMS, or integration with an Intranet or simply thinking outside of the box, we will deliver a compliant, accesible solution designed to grow with you. For those simply requiring a start in getting onto the web we can offer you one of our Starter Packages which can always be upgraded. If you prefer a CMS driven solution we also offer not only our own in house developed solution but also many others including Kentico.
User Experience
Studies have shown that the standard user takes less than a second for a user to decide if they like a website. This means that your website must be both striking to catch the eye but also read well and be simple to navigate.
That is the simple bit done. A website needs to be carefully planned not only to comply with W3C rules but also and more importantly, to maximise the amount of visitors that can utilise it. Not only human users need to be considered, Search Engines read websites in a totally different way to a human and our websites cater for this.
All of these points apply equally whether you are a club or society, a small business, or a corporate body. We also understand that dependant upon your type of site, some aspects will be more important or not even required.
Having taken all the above into account, its now time to actually start the process of creating your website. In its creation life-cycle, a website goes through a number of key stages:
Brief
Here, we talk through with you exactly what you are looking to achieve, not only now but also in the future. This can have a suprising impact on how the development of a website is processed. Also taking into consideration whether the website is purely outward facing or whether it needs to integrate with a database or Intranet.
Design
In this stage, the designers take over - your website starts to take shape visually as a collection of wire-frame and then graphical designs. The work flow and navigation is also designed here. Once this is completed, your approval and feedback are sought and any points implemented.
At this point, your design is ready to be turned into a real entity. This process is split into two distinct stages.
Front End Design
The imagework created by our designers is turned into physical pages. This process is quite a complex one as not only does a page need clean minimized code but also needs to look the same in major browsers (this is easier said than done). To achieve this, our web designers use a mixture of HTML and CSS code.
Back End Development
Once the framework of the website is created, it is handed over to the Developers. These are people who speak strange languages and mutter in dark tones. Their job is to take the framework website and turn it into the dynamic end product. They perform integration with databases, replace HTML objects with dynamic controls, create XML feeds and all the other technical things that a modern website requires. Any Content Management Integration or eCommerce Applications are also integrated at this stage.
Final Approval
Although you are able to view the development of your website on our secure client servers during its creation, there comes a point when it is finished. At this point we will formally present the website to you for your approval. Due to the interactive method in which we design and seek feedback, there are very rarely any suprise issues at this point. If there are any tweaks, they are actioned and then your website is ready to go live.
Go Live
Your website is uploaded to the Internet, whether you are hosting the site yourself or using our award winning Hosting Solutions your site is now visible to the world. If your website utilises a Content Management System you will have already received training on this (if required) so you are ready to hit the ground running.
